British intelligence notes that the Rosgvardia is strengthening its resources and personnel against the backdrop of internal security disruptions in Russia caused by the war against Ukraine.
This information is part of the intelligence overview from the British Ministry of Defense dated January 7.
The department recalled that since October 2023, units of the private military company "Wagner" have been incorporated into the composition of the Rosgvardia, and on January 3, 2024, the "Vostok" battalion from the so-called "DPR" joined.
According to the intelligence, Russia is also making efforts to disband the "Kaskad" group, which specializes in using drones, in order to subsume its parts into the Rosgvardia.
Additionally, as reminded by British intelligence, in July 2023, the State Duma of the Russian Federation allowed the Rosgvardia to use heavier weaponry.
"New capabilities, along with its augmentation with experienced veterans from other groups, will likely represent a significant increase in combat effectiveness," the overview states.
