Ukraine currently has 7 biomethane projects planned for launch by the end of this year.
Georgiy Geletukha, Chairman of the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine, shared this information during the online event “Biogas and Biomethane: New Opportunities for Ukraine’s Energy Independence.”
The projects include:
- “Hals Agro” LLC in Chernihiv region, capacity – 3 million cubic meters/year, connection – GRM;
- Vitargo Group in Khmelnytskyi region, capacity – 3 million cubic meters/year, connection – GRM;
- “Teofipol Energy Company” LLC in Khmelnytskyi region, capacity – 56 million cubic meters/year, connection – GTS;
- “Hals Agro” LLC in Kyiv region, capacity – 3 million cubic meters/year, connection – GRM;
- “UM Liquid Gas” LLC in Vinnytsia region, capacity – 11 million cubic meters/year, connection – Bio LNG;
- MHP in Vinnytsia region, capacity – 24 million cubic meters/year, connection – Bio LNG;
- MHP in Dnipropetrovsk region, capacity – 11 million cubic meters/year, connection – GRM.
According to the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business, as of March this year, Ukraine had 77 biogas plants with a capacity of up to 260 million cubic meters/year, which could process nearly 150 million cubic meters of biomethane.
