In the first eight days of January 2026, Ukraine exported 176.6 thousand tons of wheat, concentrating deliveries mainly to MENA countries: Algeria – 62.2 thousand tons (35%), Egypt – 52.3 thousand tons (30%), Yemen – 44.1 thousand tons (25%).
This was reported by Spike Brokers on Telegram.
Despite low liquidity and weak demand in the EU, individual spot deals for food wheat (11.5% protein) were conducted at $213 per ton, and feed wheat up to $208. The spot index for food wheat with CPT-port fell to $210 (-$1), while the feed wheat index rose to $206 (+$1).
Soft wheat imports to the EU in the current season decreased by 52% to 2.15 million tons. Ukraine’s share dropped from 67.3% to 22.3%, resulting in the loss of market leadership. At the same time, Canada increased its share to 40% (858 thousand tons) from 13% last year, while Moldova and Serbia raised their presence to 17.3% and 14.3%.
The European market in the 2025/26 season became more diversified, with North American and Balkan positions strengthened.
