The State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection is working on expanding accreditations in the field of halal certification.

This was stated by the head of the Service, Serhiy Tkachuk, during a meeting with representatives of organizations engaged in halal product certification, according to the agency’s press service.

The parties discussed ways to further cooperate so that Ukrainian producers can export their products abroad without obstacles. In many countries, particularly in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, a halal certificate is mandatory for selling food products.

Such a certificate confirms that the product meets the requirements and traditions of the countries that demand it. It can be obtained either through an authorized state body of the respective country or via accredited halal certification organizations in other states.

“Ukrainian producers already have the opportunity to undergo halal certification for export to a number of countries where Sharia norms are in effect. At the same time, we are not stopping at what has been achieved and are promoting the expansion of export geography, as well as obtaining or expanding accreditations in halal certification, particularly for markets such as Singapore, Indonesia, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and others,” emphasized Serhiy Tkachuk.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to continue the dialogue and work together to make Ukrainian products accessible to consumers in various countries around the world.
