China-EU: the Great Bay Area inaugurates "New Year's freight convoy" Canton-Odessa. The train will reach the final destination in 16 days.
The Great Bay Area (GBA), the megalopolis that includes 9 municipalities in southern China (Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao) has inaugurated its first China-Europe cross-border freight train. This was reported by the newspaper "Global Times" published by the Communist Party.
At 11:31 am, on January 18, the X8120 convoy loaded with the "taste of Chinese New Year" departed from Dalang station, in the Guangzhou freight forwarding center of the China Railway Guangzhou Group Co. Ltd, in the direction of Odessa, Ukraine.
The convoy has on board a total of 50 containers loaded with household appliances, communication equipment, clothing, everyday items, toys and more. It will reach Odessa in 16 days, allowing countries and regions along its route to take part in the "Chinese New Year".
GBA plans to open six more freight trains in anticipation of the Lunar New Year holidays, scheduled for February the 1st. To minimize the risk of transmission of Covid-19, the Canton department of the state-owned China Railway (CR) company has strengthened the disinfection of goods and prevention and control measures.
