On May 6, 2024, a unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Group 13 destroyed a Russian high-speed patrol boat of project 12150 Mongoose using the strike marine drone Magura V5.
Boats of this class are used by Russian fleets and special services as multi-purpose high-speed vessels for patrolling the waters, combating saboteurs, and conducting search and rescue operations.
Mongoose boats have been produced since 2000. The boat reaches up to 20 meters in length and up to 5 meters in width. The maximum speed is up to 50 knots.
Modified versions of high-speed boats are equipped with combat remotely controlled modules with the main standard armament being a 14.5 mm machine gun installation.
Additionally, Russian Mongoose boats are equipped with two automatic grenade launchers AGS-17, a handheld anti-sabotage grenade launcher DP-64, and two MANPADS of the Igla or Verba type.
The approximate cost of the destroyed Mongoose is about 3 million dollars.
The successful mission in the Vuzka Bay in the occupied territory of Crimea became possible with the assistance of the United24 platform.
Due to fear of Ukrainian attacks, which forces the Russians to hide large ships of the Black Sea Fleet far from the peninsula, combat operations continue against the fast maneuverable military vessels of the Russians that illegally remain in Ukrainian territorial waters in Crimea.
