Ukrainian intelligence was aware of the plans of Russian forces regarding the offensive in the Kharkiv region. Relevant authorities were informed.
This was reported by a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Andriy Yusov, during a television marathon.
"It can be said that the enemy's actions in this direction started according to the schedule that was known, about which information was provided. As befits the Main Intelligence Directorate, all necessary authorities and their leadership were informed," said Yusov.
According to him, fighting is ongoing in the Kharkiv region, with special forces from the Main Intelligence Directorate participating as well.
"At the moment, the enemy is suffering heavy losses. Clearly, all the necessary information is being made public by the General Staff, among others," added the intelligence officer.
Yusov noted that the Russian forces have deployed soldiers from the Moscow and Leningrad military districts to the Kharkiv region. He appealed to the Russians and called on them to surrender. The representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate noted that such cases have already occurred.
"Considering the scale of the situation with the Russian grouping, their losses, and their future, a decision was made to quickly open an additional camp for Russian prisoners of war in Ukraine," Yusov stated.
In the night of May 10, Russian forces launched an offensive in the northern part of the Kharkiv region. They attempted to break through the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the town of Vovchansk.
