Russia publishes brutal videos of executions of Ukrainian soldiers to intimidate Ukrainians and their own people. In this way, the Russian Federation's command discourages the invaders' desire to surrender.
This was stated by the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Andriy Yusov, on the telethon air.

"The purpose of such a policy, in particular, is an attempt to demoralize and sow panic in the Ukrainian Defense Forces, which they fail to do. Also, the purpose of such public atrocities is, in particular, to intimidate their fighters. Like, do not think to surrender, because in Ukrainian captivity there will be doing with you what we do with Ukrainian prisoners," Yusov said.
The representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence added that Ukraine remains a democratic state and adheres to the Geneva Conventions, despite the atrocities of the occupiers. The soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will continue to take Russian prisoner.
Moreover, Yusov stressed that more and more invaders are willing to surrender every day. March was a record month in terms of the number of applications for the "I want to live" project - more than 3,000 Russian soldiers turned in the information that they wanted to surrender.
At the same time, the Russian Federation is trying to prevent the surrender of the occupiers by deploying barrage detachments at the front and intensifying repression within Russian society.
