On June 20, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with ambassadors of European Union countries.

The parties discussed a wide range of issues. Key topics included coordination of efforts to counter Russian aggression, strengthening support for Ukraine, and the government’s domestic policy priorities amid the war.

“In the context of a new wave of massive Russian attacks, especially targeting civilian infrastructure, the need is growing to expand military, financial, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine,” emphasized Denys Shmyhal.

He noted the importance of further strengthening such aid so that it is delivered quickly, systematically, and in a coordinated manner.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the European Union for its ongoing financial and military support provided to Ukraine during these difficult times.

The discussion also covered sanctions against the Russian Federation. The Prime Minister thanked the EU for adopting 17 sanction packages against the aggressor and stressed the importance of increasing pressure on the Russian economy, particularly on sectors such as metallurgy, nuclear and chemical industries, IT services, and finance.

“A crucial issue is the confiscation of frozen Russian assets. We appreciate the launch of the ERA mechanism by the G7 countries and the EU. We look forward to decisions that will enable all frozen Russian funds to be directed toward supporting and rebuilding Ukraine,” said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister familiarized the EU ambassadors with the government’s priorities closely linked to Ukraine’s European integration course. These include economic resilience, business support, reconstruction, and strengthening defense-industrial potential.

“We expect the prompt start of negotiations on the clusters. We also rely on active cooperation with EU member states within the new SAFE instrument totaling €150 billion to meet the most critical defense needs,” said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister thanked the EU and its member states for their unwavering solidarity and emphasized the need for even greater unity and determination to protect Europe from the Russian threat.
