Further security and prosperity for the European continent depend on the expansion of the EU. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba stated this on Monday, December 11, during his speech at the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels.
Kuleba noted that today the discussion is not only about Ukraine but also about other countries that have finally received a signal that the EU is ready to expand and develop successfully.
In this context, he informed EU member states that Ukraine has fulfilled the recommendations of the European Commission necessary to start negotiations on the accession of our country to the European Union.
"It would not be an exaggeration to say that Ukraine is the only country in the world capable of successfully implementing reforms in the conditions of a full-scale war against a powerful enemy. It is time for the European Union to make a historic decision that will pave the way for the start of accession negotiations with Ukraine," said Dmytro Kuleba.
The Foreign Minister focused on military assistance to Ukraine and the creation of a common European space for the production of weapons and military equipment.
"We count on the swift adoption of necessary EU decisions regarding the launch of the Ukrainian Fund for 2024-2027, which will provide long-term support to Ukraine," he noted.
In this regard, the Minister outlined steps to ensure the urgent needs of the Ukrainian defense forces, particularly in artillery ammunition, FPV drones, and other types of weaponry.
