During the attack on Ukraine, a Russian missile accidentally entered Polish airspace. This prompted the deployment of aircraft, including NATO aircraft, into the sky.
According to the Polish Ministry of Defense,
"On March 24 at 4:23 a.m., there was a violation of Polish airspace by one of the cruise missiles launched by the Russian long-range aviation that night. The targets of the strikes were cities in western Ukraine."
Polish military sources reported that the object entered Polish airspace near the town of Oserdów (Lublin Voivodeship) and remained there for 39 seconds.
"Throughout its flight, it was tracked by military radar systems. Tonight, all necessary procedures were initiated to ensure the security of Polish airspace. This included the involvement of Polish and allied aviation," the ministry specified.
Poland emphasized its continuous monitoring of the situation in Ukraine and its readiness to ensure the safety of Polish airspace.
