Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion in Ukraine, 21 sappers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine have lost their lives while dealing with explosive objects, and an additional 77 specialists have been injured. This information was reported by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Igor Klymenko.
"Unfortunately, mines and other explosive objects take the lives of sappers. During the full-scale invasion, 21 State Emergency Service of Ukraine sappers have been killed, and 77 more have been injured," he wrote.
Klymenko also mentioned that Ukrainian sappers have neutralized approximately 450,000 explosive objects and 3,000 aerial bombs since the beginning of Russia's full-scale aggression.
Additionally, 17 mechanized demining vehicles provided by international partners assist State Emergency Service of Ukraine sappers in their work.
"This equipment significantly speeds up the demining process and has already cleared 456 hectares, but most importantly, it protects pyrotechnicians and saves their lives. Just last month, potential tragedies were avoided: the equipment was damaged, but no one was harmed. In particular, in the Kharkiv region, during the demining of power transmission lines in the Izyum district, two mechanized demining vehicles were hit by mines," Klymenko added.
