On the night of May 30, 2024, Russian forces launched a missile and air strike on military targets and critical infrastructure in Ukraine.
This was reported on Telegram by the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk.
The Russian forces used 8 S-300/S-400 surface-to-air missiles in the Kharkiv region, 11 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles launched from Tu-95 MS strategic bombers (from Saratov region, Russia), and 32 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs from Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Cape Chauda (Crimea).
The aerial attack was repelled by the air defense missile units of the Air Force, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. As a result of the air defense battle, seven Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles and 32 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs were shot down over Khmelnytskyi, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, Odessa, Kherson, Kyiv, and Vinnytsia regions.
