On the night of December 16, Russia launched an attack on various regions of Ukraine using Shahed-type combat drones from three directions – Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Krasnodar Krai), Seshchi (Bryansk region), and Kursk. This information was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.
"A total of 31 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs were used in the attack, directed by the occupiers towards different regions of Ukraine. Fighter jets, anti-aircraft missile units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved in repelling the aerial assault," the statement said.
As a result of the military operation, 30 "shaheds" were destroyed within the territories of Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Cherkasy, Kherson, Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, and Khmelnytsky regions.
Also, on the night of December 16, drones attacked the Dmitrovsky and Zheleznogorsk regions in the Kursk region of Russia. According to the governor of the region, Roman Starovoit, in the village of Krupets in Dmitrovsky district, there were three direct hits, and preliminary information indicates damage to fences, windows, and roofs in eight buildings. Additionally, an impact occurred in the area of the railway station in the city of Dmitriev, damaging a compressor station. Starovoit also reported that in the Zheleznogorsk region, drones damaged a power transmission line supplying one of the facilities of the Mikhaylovsk Mining and Processing Plant. Emergency crews have been dispatched to the site to address the consequences.
