Ecuador is preparing to transfer six Osa-AKM anti-aircraft missile systems to the United States.
According to the Infodefensa publication, these air defense complexes are then intended to be transferred to Ukraine.
This agreement involves the transfer of new unnamed American systems to Ecuador, as well as training, support, supply of spare parts, and ongoing technical assistance.
However, it is unknown whether the Osa-AKM systems are in operational condition.
There are currently 12 9K33 Osa-AKM complexes in service with the ground forces and air forces, which were previously purchased from Ukraine.
There is information indicating that in 2020, research was conducted regarding its maintenance and modernization, but the process was halted," Infodefensa reported.
Recently, it was reported that there is an agreement between the countries to exchange so-called "metal scrap" of Soviet-era weapon samples worth $200 million for modern equipment.
The deal is expected to be completed by the end of January of this year.
