Over the weekend, the websites of Estonian government institutions became the target of the largest wave of DDoS attacks in the country's history.
This was announced by the spokesperson for the Estonian Department of State Information Systems, as reported by Postimees.
It is noted that due to countermeasures, their impact was not significant. The Department of State Information Systems added that attacks were organized against twenty government sector websites on Saturday and Sunday.
The main targets included the Police and Border Guard Board, the Tax and Customs Board, and the Ministry of Justice, whose pages were most actively targeted during Saturday daytime.
Estonia has implemented technical countermeasures in recent years covering most important websites and services in the public sector.
