In April 2021, one of the world's largest online marketplaces, Etsy, introduced its own payment system, Etsy Payments, but Ukraine was not initially included in it.
In March 2022, the Ministry of Digital Transformation initiated negotiations with Etsy's management to enable Ukrainians to create new accounts on the platform. To achieve this goal, a petition was created, which was signed by 30,584 people.
In September, Ukrainian sellers started receiving invitations from Etsy to test the Etsy Payments system, marking a pivotal moment and the first step towards unlocking registration.
Today, on October 18, Mykhailo Fedorov announced the official launch of Etsy Payments. Sellers will gain access to the Etsy Purchase Protection system and dedicated 24/7 support. Entrepreneurs will also be able to manage all financial information related to their shops.
"The launch of Etsy Payments in Ukraine is an important part of the Ministry of Digital Transformation's systematic efforts to scale up the participation of Ukrainians in the international e-commerce ecosystem," stated the head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
