The Russian forces intend to lay a railway branch in Ukraine connecting Mariupol, Melitopol, and Crimea for their logistics.
The mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, reported that the enemy is seeking ways to make its logistics safe in Ukraine.
Fedorov also informed that the Russians are persistently attempting to build a new railway branch in the "deep rear" that would connect Mariupol, Melitopol, and Crimea. However, due to constant resistance and the repeated destruction of certain sections and bridges, the construction progress is slow.
He noted that the Russian forces has started using civilian vehicles to transport military and construction cargoes, and they are increasing the capacity of roads by expanding existing routes.
"Whether they are worried about the Crimean Bridge or their cannon fodder with equipment is unknown. But once again, the 'deep rear' turned out to be not as safe as propaganda portrays it," concluded the mayor of Melitopol.
