In Finland, a pilot project for building a fence on the border with Russia has been completed.
This information was reported by Yle.
According to the Finnish Border Guard, a test section of the fence, approximately three kilometers long, has been put into operation in Peltola in Imatra, South Karelia.
The construction of this section was slightly delayed, and the next part of the fence is already under construction in Salla in Lapland.
The Border Guard mentions that the road along the fence, the fence itself, and the technical surveillance system are state-of-the-art in terms of border security. Patrols in the area of the test section have been expedited, and the new monitoring technology allows for a more comprehensive understanding of the situation, they added.
