The Ministry of Defense of France has transferred additional units of the LRU multiple rocket launcher systems to Ukraine as part of the "Artillery for Ukraine" coalition.

This information was reported by the official website of the Ministry of Defense of France.

Under this coalition, France has provided Ukraine with two additional LRU multiple rocket launcher systems, bringing the total number of French systems to six.

The Lance-Roquettes Unitaire (LRU), or LRU for short, is the French variant of the American M270 MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System).

They are equipped with a modernized fire control system EFCS, a new navigation system (using GPS), and a new communication system.

A total of 13 out of 57 MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) of the French army underwent modernization between 2011 and 2014. Subsequently, they were deployed to the 1st artillery regiment.

Other combat vehicles that were not upgraded were placed in storage. Overall, France plans to replace all its M270 units by 2027.

Ukraine received its first LRU units in the fall of 2022, totaling four units. The first photos of this system in service appeared in December 2022.

Similar to the American variant, the LRU (Lance-Roquettes Unitaire) can utilize precision-guided rocket projectiles from the GMLRS (Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System) family, providing it with unparalleled accuracy and a firing range of up to 80 km.
