The priority tasks for the development of the Ukrainian economy, mechanisms for stimulating investments, and prospects for increasing the presence of French businesses in Ukraine were discussed during a meeting between Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Oleksiy Sobolev and the Director General for Global Affairs of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Oreljen Leshevalye, as well as the Ambassador of France to Ukraine Gaël Veyssière.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister of Economy Oleksiy Sobolev presented 11 priority tasks for the development of the Ukrainian economy. Among them were the search for a mechanism to confiscate frozen Russian assets and redirect them to support the Ukrainian economy, increasing export opportunities, including through the expansion of ship insurance programs. Among the key tasks are also increasing the localization of domestic production, which will contribute to the resilience of the economy and tax revenues to the budget, the development of the defense industry, increasing energy-generating capacities destroyed by missile attacks.

The interlocutors also discussed issues of attracting investments in the restoration and development of Ukraine and insuring against military risks. The French side expressed interest in joint work on programs to stimulate the return and retraining of temporarily displaced persons, as well as in increasing the presence of its businesses in Ukraine, particularly in the energy sector, extraction of critical materials, and readiness to support measures to insure the export of French companies to Ukraine.

In addition, the question of establishing a special fund to stimulate investments and enhancing cooperation with the French Development Agency is currently being worked out between Ukraine and France.
