Notus Energy, a German company, is advancing a 300 MW wind energy project in the Odessa region, with the first phase set to deliver 120 MW, according to its Commercial Director, Knud Rissel.
"Despite the full-scale invasion, we have continued working on this project since spring 2022. We are now in the process of building a 300 MW wind farm, with the first 120 MW phase expected to come online soon. We have all the necessary permits, including those related to land. Banks are supporting us despite the risks, and we are ready to work even under martial law," Rissel stated during a thematic energy panel discussion at URC-24 in Berlin.
Rissel mentioned that the company signed certain agreements at the conference regarding the project's implementation. He anticipated that the first phase of the wind farm might not be operational by the coming winter, but the company is making every effort to expedite the project. He noted some logistical issues with equipment but assured that Notus is addressing them.
"We have short-, medium-, and long-term plans for working in Ukraine," Rissel confirmed.
In September 2023, NEC Ukrenergo, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management, and Notus energy Invest Ukraine GmbH signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for the development of renewable energy projects in the 30-kilometer zone of the Chornobyl NPP.
