Quantum Systems, a German drone manufacturer, has supplied Ukraine with a new Vector AI drone equipped with artificial intelligence and an advanced acoustic artillery detection system. The delivery was announced by Florian Seibel, co-founder of Quantum Systems, on LinkedIn.

The Vector AI drone is designed for reconnaissance missions and features the capability to detect enemy artillery fire. Its artificial intelligence processes acoustic data to identify the location and distance of incoming shots in real time.

A key component of the system is the WASP (Weles Acoustic Sensor Payload), an acoustic sensor developed by Weles Acoustics, a Polish company and subsidiary of Quantum Systems. The sensor weighs about 150 grams and can detect artillery fire up to 15 kilometers away, while small arms fire can be detected within a range of 2.5 kilometers.

Florian Seibel highlighted the significance of the delivery, noting that: "VectorAI is capable of sensing direction/distance of artillery being fired boosting a flight time of up to 4 hours."

The Vector AI drone brings cutting-edge acoustic sensing technology directly to the Ukrainian front lines.

This system is expected to enhance Ukraine’s ability to quickly locate and respond to Russain artillery attacks.
