Negotiations between Ukrainian and German sides on mutual needs within the development of a future anti-ballistic defense system will take place on Thursday in Brussels, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said during his visit to Belgium.

“The second issue is our European anti-ballistic system. As you know, Ukraine initiated this direction. We initiated it. For this, we need coalition work with partners, their companies, and their leaders. And today we are expected to have a very important event, when German representatives will be able to share with Ukrainians what we need, and we will share what they need in order to take the first step toward a future anti-ballistic system,” Zelensky told journalists on Thursday.

He expressed gratitude to Germany and the defence ministers of other partner countries for preparing the meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group in the “Ramstein” format, which is also scheduled for Thursday.

“First of all, it is about PURL, air defence, Patriot systems, and anti-ballistic missiles. Nine, ten, eleven—roughly that number of countries are currently supporting new PURL packages. God willing, everything will work out and we will receive strong support from such a significant number of countries,” Zelensky said.
