Ukraine will receive 10 refrigerated containers for storing the bodies of the deceased, thanks to the efforts of the Office of the Commissioner for Missing Persons. Oleg Kotenko, the Commissioner for Missing Persons, made this announcement.
On September 1, Kotenko held an online meeting with representatives of the Federal Agency for Technical Relief of the German Ministry of Internal Affairs and representatives of the German Bureau of Forensic Medicine.
During the meeting, they discussed possible assistance from international partners to aid in the search and identification of missing persons. As a result of the meeting, the Federal Agency for Technical Relief announced the provision of 10 refrigerated units (containers and refrigerated trucks) to Ukraine for storing the bodies of fallen defenders.
"Thanks to international donors who continue to support the humanitarian mission of the Commissioner's Office and other related structures. This assistance is crucial for our country at this time," said Kotenko.
As of April, more than seven thousand Ukrainian military personnel were reported missing in action. It is likely that around 60% of them are held in captivity by Russia, while the remaining portion is presumed to have tragically lost their lives.
