Testing of the upgraded vessel Kapitan Antypov, belonging to the Danube Shipping Company, has been successfully completed at the ÖSWAG shipyard in Austria, and it is ready to return to the port of Izmail.
Dmytro Moskalenko, the CEO of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company, announced this on Facebook.
"The sea trials of Kapitan Antypov have been successfully completed. The upgraded vessel is preparing for its journey from Linz, Austria, to Izmail," the message states.
According to Moskalenko, this marks the first major modernization in the history of the company, which previously only repaired vessels built during the Soviet era.
The modernization includes the installation of two new Mitsubishi main engines that meet Euro-5 environmental standards, a new starting system, and two new Volvo Penta diesel generators.
Additionally, Kapitan Antypov has been equipped with a new engine cooling system, an automated oil level monitoring system, and an exhaust gas purification system, among other enhancements.
"Kapitan Antypov can be considered a modern vessel, as it meets the latest European standard ES-TRIN. Many vessels from European companies built or upgraded 5-10 years ago do not comply with ES-TRIN," Moskalenko added.
The management of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company plans to showcase the results of this modernization to international donors to attract long-term financing on favorable terms. They are currently awaiting a decision from the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine regarding the feasibility of the agreement.
