In December 2023, the demining units of the State Special Transport Service were able to neutralize 6,171 explosive devices in Ukraine. This constitutes a significant portion of the total number of mines, shells, and other explosive devices laid since the beginning of the large-scale invasion by the Russian Federation.

This information was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to data from the State Special Transport Service, during the past month, the highest number of explosive devices was discovered, confiscated, and neutralized in the Kharkiv region, totaling 4,343 units.

Following in quantity were:

• Kherson region - 1,050 units,

• Mykolaiv region - 703 units,

• Donetsk region - 75 units.

In total, in December, an area of 7,409.01 hectares was inspected and cleared of explosive devices. Almost all of this was in the Kherson region, where 7,073.88 hectares were cleared of mines and explosives.

In other regions, the data is as follows:

• Mykolaiv region - 195.58 hectares,

• Kharkiv region - 124.87 hectares,

• Donetsk region - 14.68 hectares.

It is noted that since the beginning of Russia's large-scale aggression against Ukraine, the units of the State Special Transport Service have discovered, confiscated, and neutralized 95,387 explosive devices.

Furthermore, an area of 49,123.98 hectares has been cleared of mines. This includes:

• Water areas - 21.66 hectares,

• Roads - 781.39 km,

• Railway tracks - 2,293.68 km,

• Power line corridors - 399.28 km,

• Gas pipelines - 36.07 km.

The State Special Transport Service has urged residents of liberated territories from Russian occupiers not to venture into fields, forests, forest strips, and water bodies and to stay on roadsides.

"It is necessary to move only on solid surfaces. If you see a suspicious object, do not approach it, do not touch it, and call 101," the statement from the State Special Transport Service emphasized.
