Annual inflation in Ukraine accelerated to 12.9%. In January 2025, consumer prices rose by 1.2%, as reported by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.
According to the report, inflation in the consumer market in January 2025 compared to December 2024 was 1.2%, while compared to January 2024 it was 12.9%.
The core inflation for January compared to December 2024 was 1.3%, and compared to January 2024, it stood at 11.7%.
On the consumer market in January, prices for food products and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1.2%. Prices for vegetables, sunflower oil, non-alcoholic beverages, bread, butter, processed grain products, meat and meat products, milk and dairy products, fruits, fish, and fish products rose by 5.5–0.9%.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 1.6%, mainly due to a 2.3% rise in tobacco prices.
Additionally, in January, communication prices rose by 9.1%, with local telephone service tariffs up by 29.1% and mobile communication by 15.6%.
Transport prices increased by 1.4%, primarily due to a 2.5% increase in passenger road transport fares and a 2.1% rise in fuel and lubricants.
Meanwhile, in January, eggs became 23.1% cheaper, pasta and sugar prices decreased by 0.8% and 0.6%, respectively, while clothing and footwear prices dropped by 5.5%.
