In July, consumer prices in Ukraine decreased by 0.6% after an increase of 0.8% in June, according to data from the State Statistics Service.
At the same time, inflation was recorded at a rate of 0.7%. On an annual basis, as of July 2023, it decreased to 11.3% from 12.8% in June.
The core inflation remained at a level of 0.0% following a deflation of 0.1% in June and inflation of 0.3% in May.
On an annual basis, as of July 2023, core inflation decreased to 12.3% from 13.7% in June.
Since the beginning of the year, inflation in the country has been 4.0%, while core inflation has been 3.2%, according to the State Statistics Service.
In the consumer market, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages decreased by 1.9% in July. Vegetables saw the largest decrease (18.2%), while the prices of eggs, processed grain products, rice, fruits, lard, sunflower oil, and dairy products decreased by 7.6% to 0.4%.
However, prices for meat and meat products, sugar, fish and fish products, and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1.4% to 0.5%. Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 1.0.
Transport prices increased by 2.7%, mainly due to higher fuel and lubricant prices by 7.3%. Prices in the communication sector increased by 0.3%, attributed to a 5.8% increase in postal services costs.
