Agricultural producers in the Odesa region are growing corn for popcorn, which is exported to Bulgaria, as well as amaranth. They have also established experimental rice fields.
This was reported by Oleg Kiper, Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, on Telegram.
"A working visit to the Podilsk district. I became acquainted with the operations of one of the region’s farms, where farmers grow Monsanto corn seeds (160 ha), popcorn corn for export (100 ha), and amaranth for Nestlé (140 ha)," the report states.
The regional leader pointed out that Russian forces destroyed the Rice Institute in the occupied Skadovsk in the Kherson region, so it is very valuable that now Odessa agrarians are planting experimental fields of this crop, including 5 hectares in the northern part of the region.
"Here in the Podilsk district, rice is grown using drip irrigation instead of the common method in checks (flooded fields)," Kiper noted.
