The Presidents of Ukraine and France met in Poland following the ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi concentration camp.

Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude to Emmanuel Macron for support of Ukraine and military assistance. Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, France has provided €6 billion in defense aid.

During the meeting, the leaders discussed opportunities to further strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities with France’s support, which would bolster Ukraine’s position in achieving a just and lasting peace.

Special attention was given to security cooperation, particularly possible formats for security guarantees for Ukraine and Europe as a whole.

In addition, Ukraine is counting on the support of France and Emmanuel Macron personally in the negotiation process for EU accession.
