During the night of October 22, the Russian army launched an airstrike using Shahed drones on a residential area in the city of Sumy, resulting in three fatalities.

According to the Sumy Regional State Administration's press service,

"As a result of the nighttime attack by enemy drones on private residential houses in the regional center, three people were killed, including one child."

The press service reported that Russian forces continue to shell Sumy. In the morning, the Russian forces struck an apartment building and critical infrastructure facilities, with the effects of the morning attack still being assessed.

The administration also noted that on October 22, anti-aircraft gunners shot down Russian Shahed drones over the Sumy region, and "anti-aircraft battles are ongoing."
