Ukrainian companies have filed more than 18,000 applications for trademark registration since the beginning of 2024, according to a report by Opendatabot.
From 2015 to 2019, the number of trademark registration applications increased annually, peaking in 2019 with a record 33,745 applications. However, with the onset of the pandemic, applications decreased by 17% to 27,883 in 2020.
A second significant drop occurred at the beginning of the full-scale war, with applications falling to 16,162—the lowest figure in recent years. However, by 2023, the number of trademark registration applications rose again to 25,000. This year, 18,008 applications have already been submitted in the first nine months.
In 2024, the most common trademarks registered are for advertising and entrepreneurial activities, accounting for 37.4% of all applications. The top three also include trademarks related to education and entertainment services (13.9%) and those for pharmaceuticals, medical, veterinary products, and herbicides (11.1%).
Roshen has submitted the highest number of trademark registration applications ever, with 1,396. Other notable companies actively registering their trademarks include Obolon with 1,043 and Rozetka.ua with 886.
