Chief Commander of the army of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, General Martin Wijnen, has stated the necessity of being prepared for a possible war with Russia. This information was reported by De Telegraaf.
"We must be seriously prepared for a possible armed conflict with Russia," said Wijnen.
According to him, the Netherlands should follow the example of Sweden, Finland, and the Baltic countries. These countries either share a border or are close to Russia, and, according to the army chief, the population there is better prepared for a war with a "large neighbor."
"The Netherlands must relearn that the entire society should be ready when something goes wrong," said Wijnen.
He added that, for citizens, this means having reserves of food and drinking water.
"The Netherlands should not think that security is guaranteed for us because we are 1,500 kilometers away," the general noted.
"Russia understands only one language - strong armed forces," Wijnen emphasized, highlighting the need for the Netherlands to strengthen its army.
