In Ukraine, the Demining Corps has been established, with units from the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine joining. They will carry out tasks in the areas that have been de-occupied. This was announced by Colonel Ruslan Berehulia, the head of the Main Department of Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety of the Ministry of Defense.

"The Demining Corps has effectively been established. Currently, units from the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine have joined it to carry out tasks in the de-occupied territories. Already, 1000 demining groups have been formed," Berehulia noted.

The Demining Corps project entails the creation of 1000 demining groups, each consisting of up to 5000 specialists. They will conduct surveys of potentially contaminated areas, clear the terrain as part of rapid response operations, and carry out humanitarian demining activities.

However, he mentioned that there are currently difficulties due to a lack of sufficient vehicles, specialized equipment, and gear.

"We are working with our foreign partners who have joined the Mine Action Coalition. Thanks to our joint efforts, we can expect to receive material and technical assistance soon. This will allow us to equip the units that are part of the Demining Corps," he explained.
