Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe has mastered the production of ultra-heavy pipes weighing over 3 tons and measuring up to 7 meters in length—an advanced technological breakthrough that opens new market opportunities in engineering and construction, the company said in a press release.
A standard pipe with 50–60 mm wall thickness typically reaches up to 5 meters in length and weighs around 2 tons. To produce pipes that are a third heavier, Interpipe specialists developed a dedicated manufacturing technology.
The first batch has already been delivered to a client for use in hydraulic cylinders, specifically for mine supports that reinforce underground structures. However, the potential applications are broader—from bridge and stadium foundations to offshore wind power infrastructure.
This complex niche product significantly expands Interpipe’s manufacturing and export capabilities, particularly in Europe, where demand for high-tech infrastructure and energy solutions is growing.
Over the past three years, Interpipe’s R&D team has introduced more than 250 new types of pipes to the market, most of them niche products for mechanical engineering, construction, and energy sectors.
The company continues to invest in high-value-added, advanced tubular solutions, maintaining its focus on global competitiveness.
Interpipe is also expanding its presence in the European railway market. It already supplies railway products across the EU, and Ukrainian-made wheels are now installed on two out of every three freight wagons in the region. The company plans to enter the more complex and technologically demanding segment of passenger train wheels by 2032.
