Italian intelligence said the goals of Russia's invasion of Ukraine had failed. Now the aggressor country needs an operational pause in hostilities against Ukraine to prepare for a long war. During this time, the Russian Federation can, in particular, restart the work of its military-industrial complex.

According to La Stampa, Italian intelligence announced such conclusions in a report to Parliament. The intelligence also suggests that Russia has begun to feel the impact of sanctions imposed by the West over a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, despite Russia's large manufacturing capacity.

In addition, intelligence officers note a decrease in support for the war in Russia. At the same time, most Russians still approve of the actions of their leadership. This is due to the work of the Russian propaganda media.

At the same time, Russia will not abandon attempts to interfere in political processes in Western countries.

“Moscow will not stop interfering in the political dynamics and decision-making processes in NATO countries. Resorting even more than in the past to coercive and manipulative methods, such as cyber-attacks, disinformation, blackmail, and the use of levers such as migration and energy, the latter of which are doomed to the loss of relevance, given the desire of the West to find alternatives to energy dependence on Russia," the newspaper writes.

The document writes that "the attention of national intelligence is heightened with respect to the risks of escalation linked to the continuation of the conflict, including the threat of the use of nuclear weapons by Russia assessed as unlikely at the time of this Report".
