The exhibition, featuring about 300 artworks by Ivan Marchuk, opened on February 9, 2024, at the Aula der Wissenschaften in the center of Vienna. It will run until February 18. The exhibit showcases artworks from various periods of the artist's career, ranging from seminal early paintings from the 1960s to 1980s to the master's key cycle "The Voice of My Soul" and watercolor compositions created in the last year and a half, many of which are exhibited to the public for the first time. The oldest piece dates back to 1965, while the newest was completed just days before the opening.
This exhibition represents the most comprehensive showcase in Ivan Marchuk's artistic biography and one of the largest in the history of European art among recognized artists of a broad creative spectrum.
"I am convinced that if you attend this exhibition, you will find yourself in a realm of wonder," commented Ivan Marchuk.
The exhibition opening was attended by embassy representatives, including the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Austria Vasyl Khymynets, co-founders of the Ukrainian school in Vienna, and representatives of the Greek Catholic Church of St. Barbara. Additionally, special guests from other countries, including Bulgaria, Slovenia, Poland, Monaco, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Slovenia, are expected to attend the exhibition.
As part of the exhibition, winners of the children's drawing contest inspired by Marchuk's works will be honored. The contest was held among students of the Ukrainian Saturday School in Vienna, which currently educates about 1000 children affected by the war. The winning artworks will be displayed at the exhibition, and the winners will receive gifts from the artist and partners.
The exhibition is organized with the support of local volunteers, sponsors, and collectors of Ivan Marchuk's paintings and is open from February 9 to February 18, 2024, from 10:00 to 19:00. Admission is free.
Address: Aula der Wissenschaften, Wollzeile 27 A, 1010, Vienna.
