On 20 November, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met in Kyiv with Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Kiyoto Tsuji, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Kazuchika Iwata and representatives of the Japanese business community.

Denys Shmyhal outlined the Government of Ukraine’s priorities for rapid recovery: energy, housing, critical infrastructure, humanitarian demining and business support. He thanked the Japanese delegation for the mission, which would further involve Japanese companies in reconstruction.

“Ukraine is interested in establishing joint ventures, especially in the processing sector. Cooperation in agriculture, metalworking, engineering, critical raw materials and IT is important to us. Japan’s experience in post-war reconstruction can be useful for Ukraine’s economic recovery,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine said.

For their part, representatives of the Japanese Government said that their country planned to provide EUR 160 million to support Ukraine’s economic recovery projects. The State Ministers also assured that Japan’s position on support for Ukraine would remain unchanged.
