Ukrainian pet food company Kormotech has officially launched its premium pet food line, Club 4 Paws, in Egypt. Since mid-August, the brand has been available in pet stores across the country.
Vasyl Yatsyshyn, Director of Mass-Market Brands at Kormotech, highlighted Egypt's status as a significant and dynamic economy in Africa, noting its potential for business growth. Despite economic challenges, there is a notable demand for quality and affordable pet food in Egypt. Yatsyshyn emphasized the importance of adhering to local food certification standards, including Halal requirements, due to Egypt's status as an Arab Islamic state.
Kormotech's entry into the Egyptian market follows the signing of a distribution agreement 18 months ago. After nine months of brand registration, the company has begun its operations in Egypt, with 80 tons of pet food already shipped and an additional 78 tons prepared for delivery, totaling 158 tons of Club 4 Paws food.
The Egyptian pet food market is growing rapidly. According to Euromonitor reports, the market was valued at $13.7 million last year and is expected to reach $15.3 million by 2025. The number of pets is projected to increase by 90,000 due to urbanization.
This expansion into Egypt is part of Kormotech's new five-year strategy focused on increasing international sales. The company aims to enhance its distribution and brand recognition through both offline and e-commerce channels.
In 2023, Kormotech reported a turnover of $152 million, with international sales accounting for 31% of its revenue. The company has also seen significant growth in Romania, Poland, and Moldova, and has expanded its market presence to 43 countries, including recent entries into Malaysia, Finland, Spain, and Italy, while maintaining its leadership position in Ukraine.
