Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba commented on the situation with the termination of negotiations with Russia, comparing them to a match that burned down.
Russia preferred war to diplomatic negotiations.
This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba on the air of the information telethon.
âThere was no such moment when they just took and stopped the negotiations. The negotiations were like a match. First, you light a match, and it burns brightly, strongly. Then, the more it burns, the less it becomes. And, in the end, it disappears, only a burnt match remains, which is thrown to the ground and rubbed with the foot. This is approximately what happened with the negotiations," Kuleba said.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs explained what became clear after the meeting in Istanbul, which was the highest stage of the negotiations.
"Russia has begun to lose its appetite for negotiations with Ukraine," Kuleba said.
The Foreign Minister noted that the reasons for this have yet to be explored.
"Every week we saw a direct correlation: the more aggressive Russia is on the battlefield, the less interest they showed in negotiations," Kuleba stated.
The Foreign Minister added, to the symbolic comparison of negotiations with a match.
"If you look at the map, at the cities of Ukraine that have been hit in recent days, at the battle for Donbas, at Mariupol, at their efforts to dig in Kherson, you can see that Russia has chosen war, not negotiations. That's how they went out ", - Kuleba emphasized.
In the Russian Federation, where despite numerous attempts to find diplomatic solutions, the siege and bombardment of Ukrainian cities continued, they say that they are already ready for a peaceful dialogue with Kyiv.
This is not the first such statement by the Russian side in recent times. In particular, recently the speaker of the Kremlin and Putin, Dmitry Peskov, complained that Kyiv does not want to talk to them, and even earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the negotiations between the Russian Federation and Ukraine turned into stagnation and are not yet being conducted in any format, "moreover, a considerable contribution to this contributed by the USA.
