The Russian fleet has been accumulating Kalibr cruise missiles. It is likely that the enemy may use them to strike Ukraine.
This was reported by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, during a televised marathon.
"Kalibrs have been accumulating throughout this period. They are absolutely ready for use," said the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
According to him, Russia has decided to use the Kh-101 cruise missiles instead of Kalibrs because they are more effective.
"In the near future, I think we will see Kalibrs again because the number of Kh-101 has significantly decreased... There are regulatory acts, documents, decisions, etc. The first task is to replenish the fleet's missile stock because it was significantly reduced at that time. They have accomplished this task. So now they are technically ready for their use. While the fleet was accumulating its missiles, the Russian Aerospace Forces used the Kh-101," Budanov said.
It is worth noting that last year, the Russians actively used sea-based Kalibr cruise missiles to strike Ukraine's energy infrastructure. This year, the enemy has hardly used this type of missile.
"We constantly monitor the pace of production, accumulation, etc. We know for sure how many missiles they have. The fact that they have not struck energy targets for over a year has allowed them to accumulate a certain amount of weaponry. Unfortunately, the enemy now has the capability to continue their operations," believes Budanov.
According to the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, the pace of missile production in Russia has not changed. The Russian forces continues to replenish its arsenal.
"We are talking about missiles of operational-tactical level. The numbers there are quite different; it's not 100 missiles being produced (monthly), but the figure is significant," the intelligence officer stated.
It should be noted that earlier, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense reported that Russians could produce 60-100 various types of missiles each month.
