Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov gave an interview to David Ignatius for The Washington Post.

During the conversation, the head of Ukrainian intelligence called on America to provide our country with the assistance necessary to combat the aggressor state Russia.

"Together we will achieve a common victory," he said.

Kyrylo Budanov also spoke about the Ukrainian plan to reduce Russia's military potential.

"We proposed a plan aimed at reducing Russian potential. It covers many aspects, such as military industry, critical military targets, their airfields, their command posts," explained the chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.

According to him, this could also affect the level of support for the war against Ukraine among the Russian population.

"When you are sitting, let's say, in St. Petersburg, and you only see the war on TV, you will always support it. But people start to get nervous when some object [is attacked] near their house," Budanov noted.

The head of the Ukrainian intelligence service pointed out that Putin and his regime have become victims of their own propaganda.

"They overheated their society, said that they were the most powerful in the world, and he [Putin] himself began to believe it. But it turned out that their army is not as powerful as they thought," he said.

At the same time, Kyrylo Budanov noted that Russians demonstrate the ability to quickly restore their forces.

"Starting a war, Putin made a strategic mistake. But the Russians quickly recover, and this is a fact that should be remembered. They have proven this dozens of times. We should not underestimate this characteristic," emphasized the general.

He added that the Russian-Ukrainian war will continue as long as the Putin regime remains in power in Russia.

"With the next regime, this may change or not, but there will be a window of opportunity," Kyrylo Budanov said.
