"Russian President Vladimir Putin may succeed in his war against Ukraine due to the inability of Western allies to provide Kyiv with the necessary weapons," said Gabrielius Landsbergis, the head of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a briefing in Brussels.
Landsbergis believes that the United States is delaying the decision on new aid, and the European Union is unable to financially support Ukraine in procuring weapons.
"In the current situation, it seems that Putin is ready to resume his Victory Day plans, which he postponed. Discussions in Washington, Europe's inability to move forward in military support for Ukraine, and pressure on Ukrainians on the front create favorable conditions for Putin to start planning," Landsbergis noted.
The minister also emphasized that various scenarios are possible now and called on Europe to show leadership by supporting Ukraine.
In the early fall of 2022, Ukraine appealed to the West to provide it with military equipment to resist the Russian invasion. At that time, Russia had not yet consolidated its positions in the captured territories. While allies were debating the provision of tanks, Russia began to strengthen its positions, said Brady Africk, an analyst from the American Enterprise Institute.
