In May 2025, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), through its Swiss subsidiary Medlog SA, acquired 50% of the Ukrainian shipping company N'UNIT and 25% of the Mostyska dry port, part of which belongs to SCM Holdings of the Ukrainian businessman Rinat Akhmetov.

Forbes Ukraine estimates the total value of the deal at between $15 million and $30 million. This is one of the largest investments in Ukraine by a global logistics player since the war.

MSC, based in Geneve but owned by the Italian Aponte family, is one of the world's largest container operators, with a fleet of 900 vessels and operations in 520 ports. Its logistics division, Medlog, is an intermodal transport operator present in 90 countries, with an annual transport volume of 7.3 million containers (TEU).

The Ukrainian company N'UNIT, founded in 2020 by Yegor Grebennikov, co-owner of TIS Group (which operates the Ukrainian port of Yuzhny, near Odessa), owns four rail and road terminals in Vyshneve, Kharkiv, Dnipro and Lviv regions, as well as pallet and grain warehouses in Kharkiv. In 2024, its turnover grew 2.5 times, reaching UAH 2 billion.

The dry port of Mostyska in the Lviv region is an intermodal terminal near the border with Poland, equipped with tracks of two standards (1520 mm and 1435 mm). In 2024, the company increased its turnover by 18%, reaching UAH 388.9 million. The remaining 50% of this logistics hub belongs to Akhmetov's Lemtrans, while Grebennikov owns the remaining 25%.

With this operation MSC, already present with another subsidiary in the port of Odessa, decisively enters the Ukrainian logistics market destined to grow rapidly. According to Yegor Grebennikov, in the coming years container transport in Ukraine could grow four or five times. Medlog's investment will allow N'UNIT to expand its network in the coming years, added the Ukrainian entrepreneur who remained a 50% co-owner.
