Brazil will remain neutral in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. The parties to the war, who are now calling for dialogue with Brazil, should have done so before the fighting began.

This was stated by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, according to Correio Braziliense.

“It is important for Brazil to stay out of this conflict and advocate for a peaceful resolution. Those who want to talk to us now could have done so before the war started,” he emphasized.

Lula da Silva added that Brazil has already condemned the Russian invasion but insists on a peaceful resolution of the conflict, aiming to avoid participation in military actions.

China and Brazil agreed on a joint “peace plan” to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. However, Ukrainian officials have criticized these initiatives.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that such alternative peace proposals regarding Ukraine are merely political statements, lacking concrete measures and a clear plan of action.
