The European Union may strengthen its assistance to Ukraine in the coming weeks and deliver more equipment and ammunition.
French President Emmanuel Macron was quoted by Le Progres.
The French leader made the statement in a video where he responded to questions from online users.
In response to a question about whether France would engage in warfare, Macron denied such a possibility. He explained his statements regarding the potential deployment of Western troops to Ukraine.
"Ukraine has been attacked by Russia, and at some point, we must be able to prevent Russia from further advancing. The sovereignty and territorial integrity of this country are at stake in Ukraine. But the rule of law, our common rules, are also at stake," Macron said.
He also stated that the West should provide more assistance to Ukraine. According to him, there are plans to strengthen assistance in the coming weeks.
"That's why we need to help more, which we plan to do in the coming weeks by delivering more equipment to the Ukrainians, but also to say at a certain point, if the Russians go too far, all of us Europeans must be ready to act to convince them," added the President of France.
