In Belarus, security forces conduct searches of people who have been persecuted under administrative and political articles for the past three years.

According to the human rights center Viasna, this is due to the incapacitation of the Russian A-50 radar aircraft, which was located at the Belarusian airfield Machulishchi. It is reported that searches and detentions took place on 4 and 5 March.

“Yesterday and today, in the Minsk region, employees of the State Security Committee are conducting searches and arrests due to a downed plane in Machulishchi. KGB officers are arresting everyone who was prosecuted under administrative and political articles from 2020 to 2023,” the message says.

Human rights activists report at least 10 such cases, detainees are taken to the KGB detention center after searches.

It should be reminded that the explosions at the Belarusian military airfield sounded on February 26. It was reported that the A-50U radar aircraft was damaged because of the attack. This was denied in Belarus.
