On the night of July 31, 2024, the Russian forces attacked with an X-59 guided air missile from the airspace of the occupied Kherson region and 89 Shahed-type attack drones from the areas of Yeysk, Seshcha, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. The main target of the attack was the Kyiv region!

"This was one of the most massive attacks using Shahed-131/136 drones. The enemy used the same number of Shaheds on New Year's Eve, January 1, 2024. As then, today, Ukrainian air defense stood firm and repelled the massive attack of enemy drones,"  wrote Commander of the Air Force, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk.

Of the 89 Shahed-131/136 attack drones detected by the radar units of the Air Force, all 89 were shot down.

The response to the air attack involved mobile fire groups from all Defense Forces of Ukraine, tactical aviation of the Air Force and army aviation of the Ground Forces, anti-aircraft missile units, and electronic warfare units of the Air Force. Additionally, the X-59 guided air missile that the enemy used to attack Mykolaiv was shot down.

The air raid alert in the capital lasted over 7 hours, specifically 7 hours and 14 minutes. It is worth noting that the longest alert during the entire period of the war was recorded on May 27, 2022, lasting 7 hours and 55 minutes.
