In Milan, Italy, on Saturday, October 25, an evening charity run titled “Lumina Run: Light Over Darkness” will take place to raise funds for electronic warfare (EW) defense systems for the Khartia brigade, a unit of the Ukrainian National Guard.
According to Afisha.it, via Ukrinform, the run will start at 18:00 at Arco della Pace. The distance is 5 km, and the event is non-competitive, allowing participants to run at a comfortable pace. The run’s motto is: “Run for those who never stop. Run for Khartia. Be the light that pierces the darkness.”
The event is organized by the Ukrainian youth charity Lotus Fund, which supports the Armed Forces of Ukraine and medics, together with the National Guard unit, whose soldiers were among the first to reach Ukraine’s eastern borders during the liberation of Kharkiv region.
The Khartia unit was the only volunteer group involved in the defense of Bakhmut and has fought successfully in Donetsk, the Kupiansk-Lyman direction, and the Siverskyi forest region.
“Last year, the unit stopped a new enemy offensive in Kharkiv and has since gradually pushed the occupiers back to the border, liberating over 200 hectares in 2025,” the charity organizers note.
The goal of the run is to raise €25,000 to support Ukraine’s defenders. The event will also take place in other cities across Europe and Canada. Organizers emphasize that 100% of the funds raised will go directly to the needs of the Khartia unit.
